Naked is Normal

Naked is Normal — Roxanne Noor

About the Book

Naked is Normal is an art book about the bare essentials of life. In a culture hell-bent on obtaining more to fill a spiritual void, nudity is a call back to simplicity.

The voluntary simplicity embedded in the ethos of naturism is the antidote to consumerism, to only want what you truly need. A naked body is a freedom from the cultural straightjacket and does not care for the performance and the curation of the self that clothing enables through identity politics and hierarchical division.

We believe the body is an extension of the land; an expression of nature, like a cypress tree or a tiger lily. Nudity is the origin of life, and a tribute to infantile innocence.

This book was lived. It was born from years in nature as naturist artists in a small tight-knit community. In this shared life, we experienced a different kind of wealth, something far more precious than what can be bought or worn.

“The hero wears armor, the saint is naked. Now armor, while keeping off blows, prevents any direct contact with reality and above all makes it impossible to enter the third dimension which is that of supernatural love. If things are really to exist for us they have to penetrate within us." -Simone Weil
